Homemade Garlic Chili Crunch

  • Author: Chef Nelly

Description

🔥 Homemade Garlic Chili Crunch Oil is a bold, flavor-packed condiment that brings heat, umami, and irresistible crunch to every dish. Made with golden-fried garlic, crispy shallots, toasted chili flakes, and a hint of sweetness, this oil is steeped in aromatic spices like star anise and Sichuan peppercorns. Balanced with a savory soy undertone and a touch of vinegar for brightness, each spoonful adds a fiery kick and satisfying texture to noodles, rice bowls, dumplings, eggs, or even pizza. It’s the ultimate jar of magic for spice lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup oil

6 cloves fresh garlic, sliced or minced

2 Tbsp red chili flakes

2 Tbsp dried minced garlic

2 Tbsp dried onion chopped

2 tsp of granulated sugar

1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

1 tsp kosher salt

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp cayenne

2 tsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Mince or slice the garlic to your preferred size (it doesn’t really matter how big or small it is, just how much of a garlic bite you want).
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and cook about 1 minute or until lightly golden.
  3. Immediately remove from heat (the garlic will continue to cook a little in the pan. You want it to be just a light golden brown. Don’t let the garlic burn or else it will become bitter).
  4. Stir in rest of the ingredients (red chili flakes, dried minced garlic, dried chopped onion, sugar, sesame seeds, salt, smoked paprika, cayenne, and soy sauce).
  5. Taste for flavor and adjust to your liking. Cool completely. After cooled, store in a mason jar or similar. Stir well before using.
